About the Role

Our Intro to Improvisation Program for Youth is an exhilarating journey designed to introduce middle school-aged participants to the thrilling art of improv. Through an eight-week curriculum, students develop essential skills in scene work, collaboration, and creative expression in a supportive and engaging environment.

Responsibilities:
Lead weekly improv classes for middle school-aged students based on the provided curriculum.
Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and taking creative risks.
Guide students through various exercises and games to enhance their improvisational skills, confidence, and teamwork.
Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to help students grow and develop as improvisers.
Prepare students for a final class performance, helping them showcase their newfound skills to friends and family.

Overview:
As an Improv Instructor, you will follow our structured eight-week curriculum designed to help students develop essential improvisational skills. Each week focuses on different aspects of improv, including confidence building, active listening, character development, and more. You'll guide students through engaging activities and exercises that encourage creativity, collaboration, and fun!

Summer Program Dates:
We are currently hiring instructors for our summer program that runs from June 24th to August 23rd, providing an exciting opportunity for students to explore the world of improv during their break from school.

Requirements

  • Previous experience teaching or performing improvisation, preferably with youth audiences.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a passion for working with young people.

  • Ability to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of individual students and the class as a whole.
